Every time there is a planning session MS Edwards declares that the Senior Center needs a bus. WHY? It has been investigated by several officials that there are less than two dozen active members.... (people who show up more than 3 times a month) So why a bus? Nice to have does not make it right. The cost of insurance would be so high that it would cost less to hire limos.
So someone educate me.

well..sounds like you are being educated by one of our members who likes to give Jessica a hard time..I talk to Jessica on a regular basis... glad to call her a friend. She encourages anyone to call her anytime with questions or concerns...she is not trying to hide anything..The center has over 300 active members...and gaining new members..There are alot of members that are very active and do not like to come in and just sit around..they want to travel...Jessica is doing a wonderful job bringing in activities for the center..call her or go there and check it out for yourself...

I HAVE BEEN B**CHIN ABOUT THIS ISSUE FOR A LONG TIME. THEY DON'T NEED A BUS. THE COST OF INSURANCE, MAINTENANCE, LIBILITY TO OUR TAX PAYER, GOD FOR BID IF ANYTHING HAPPENS. IF A SENIOR GETS A SUDDEN ILLNESS ON THE BUS, WHO GOING TO KNOW WHAT TO DO. ARE YOU GOING TO BE OUT IN NO-MAN LAND AND HAVE TO WAIT FOR A RESCUE. THE CENTER ALWAYS USED ANOTHER FORM OF TRANSPORTATION AND NO COMPLAINTS. ANOTHER SUBJECT, WHAT HAPPEN TO ALL THE FURNITURE THAT WAS REPLACE BY NEW FURNITURE? THE OLD FURNTURE WAS BOUGHT BY LEVY MONEY. SHOULDN'T THE OLD FURNITURE BE PUT UP FOR BID INSTEAD OF SELLING IT OUTRIGHT TO ANYBODY THAT WANTED IT. THE POOL TABLES, I UNDERSTAND THAT THEY ARE BEING SOLD FOR $500.00 TO TWO OF HER FRIENDS. THAT TOO WAS BOUGHT BY LEVY MONEY. ALL I GOT TO SAY IS, MS EDWARDS SURE HAS HER WAY AT THE SENIOR CENTER. ONE MORE THING, PROVE TO ME THAT YOU HAVE MORE THEN 300 MEMBERS. OH, THATS WHY PEOPLE THAT CAME TO HAVE THEIR TAXES DONE BY AARP HAD TO SIGN UP WITH A MEDICAL CARD AND BE CHARGED $5.00. THATS COUNTS TOWARD HER MEMBERSHIP. BECAUSE I HAVE ASKED TO MANY QUESTIONS ON HOW AND WHY THINGS ARE BEING DONE AT THE SENIOR IS WHY THE COIN CLUB WAS ASK TO FIND ANOTHER PLACE TO MEET. NOT BECAUSE OF THE ISSUE OF HAVING AN EMPLOYEE THERE TO OPEN UP. THEY ALSO DID NOT WANT NIGHT PROGRAMS. THEN WHY IS THERE LINE DANCING EVERY MONDAY NIGHT? WHO IS IDEA WAS THIS? THATS ALL I GOT SAY AT THIS TIME, BECAUSE THERE IS MORE TO COME.

:snicker Down boy.....

nikki...since you seem to know how much things cost...lets see the figures...as far as someone getting sick on the bus, Im guessing it would be handled the same way on a commercial bus....where are you getting all your info....maybe you should call Jessica and ask her those questions, she will gladly prove it all....oh, and watch your language....

How old do you have to be to join the senior center.

I wanna go on a bus trip, maybe a casino.

A woman comes home one day to find her husband dying his chest hairs grey, when she asks what he is doing, he says making himself look older so he can go down and apply for social security.

His wife replies...............Just show them your :icon_eek: .............insert favorite name for that part of the mans anatomy

From everything I've heard, this is true. Now unless the bus trip is going to a brewery, a winery or a bordella, I'll stay home, but that doesn't mean I'm not permitted to.

The members of the center will get first choice...if there are seats to fill then others can go....

IN MADISON SENIOR CENTER, IT'S MEMBERS FIRST THEN THE OUTSIDERS. FAIRPORT, EASTLAKE AND PAINESVILLE, IT'S FIRST COME - FIRST SERVE. THEY DON'T PLAY THE SILLY RULES THAT MADISON HAS. CHECK IT OUT. ALSO THEY PICK UP PASSENGERS AT PARK & RIDE AT 528 & 90.

I dont see anything silly about letting the members have first choice...That would be kinda like having a coin club that can only have 10 members at a meeting...10 non-members who show up first get to attend the meeting and the members that show up have to leave because the quota has been filled by non members...

Old people get sick and old people die. It might be on a bus, plane or sitting on the toilet. What has that got to do with a bus? We recently had a bus trip to a casino and one of our senior citizens died at the poker table. The trips continue. It is a fact of life that we die somewhere. By the way, his son is asking the casino to review the security camera footage to see what his dads hand was when he died. I hope it was four aces or a Royal Flush!

WELL, ACCORDING TO THE TOWNSHIP MEETING MINUTES ON MARCH 9, 2010, THEY DISCUSSED DROPPING THE PURCHASE OF THE BUS AND ADDING ON TO THE SENIOR CENTER BUILDING INSTEAD. WHY DO THEY NEED ANOTHER ADDITION? THEY DON'T HAVE ENOUGH PEOPLE AT THE CENTER NOW. YOU GO BY THERE IN THE AFTERNOON AND YOUR LUCKY TO SEE TWO OR THREE CARS THERE. ANOTHER ISSUE, THEY DIDN'T WANT ANY NIGHT ACTIVITIES AT THE CENTER BECAUSE IT WAS TO COSTLY. NOW I SEE LINE DANCING EVERY MONDAY NIGHT.

My mother in law is fairly new to the Madison area and wanted to check out the senior center. She is in her 70's and still works so she doesn't get to go there during the day and one of her questions was aren't they open at night? She enjoys going to bingo and on "road trips". We've gone to the casino with Breckenridge in Willoughby. For something like that they rented a bus and we were allowed only after all residents that wanted to go signed up. It was a fun time. We really enjoyed it. Do they do that here in Madison?

nikki, what is your problem with the senior center? Seem's like whatever they do upset's you. I'm glad it's there if we ever decide we would like to go there. We are member's but have no need to go there yet. They have our medical history and the med's we are on just in case we are there some day and have a need for medical help.

Please lighten up. Remember one of these day's you will get old and decide you would like to go there for a hot meal and someone to talk to. It get's very lonely sitting at home by yourself.

Have a great day.

Happy Easter.
